Train Station Entry #4

This is a picture of a talented sista from Jersey who sojourned with us. She's a spoken word artist who goes by the name Purple Haze. I took this picture of her while she was sitting on the chairs at the station; however, I really wanted to catch the picture of the muslim woman that sits in the background. The reason I wanted to take her picture so badly is b/c I shared a moment with her momentarily. Of course we were a spectacle to the people in the train station. They could obviously tell that we were tourists, so they and we alike stared often without really realizing it. I know I stare sometimes, but my mind is so vivid and I immediately start thinking of conversation if I were to speak to those people and I don't realize it until it is made apparent to me that I'm staring. At any rate, I got off on a tangent for a second. I connected with this woman in the midst of her staring at me and me looking in her direction. Instead of looking down or away, I decided to smile. Unbeknownst to me she decided to smile back! Previously making eye contact with fully covered muslim women in Cairo was almost impossible! However, this woman was very warm and receptive. Although her face was completely covered, you could see her cheeks raise and her eyes squint which undoubtedly was a smile. I felt very warm on the inside.
